History

Founded by Sue Wade in 1962 with only ten students in Dallas, Texas, Wade College originally offered day and evening classes in fashion merchandising and professional modeling. In 1965, the growing institution moved from its Turtle Creek location to the Dallas Apparel Mart in the Dallas Market Center area and in 1971, the curriculum shifted to full-time programs in merchandising and design. As graduates found success, the faculty expanded, and the library's holdings increased, Wade College was granted accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges in 1985. Relocating again in 2004 to its current location in the Infomart which is in the heart of the Dallas Design District provides the students numerous opportunities to work the various trade events and major retail markets.

Currently, Wade College offers dual-major associate of arts and bachelor of arts degrees in merchandising and design with a range of visual arts specializations. Sue Wade continues as executive director, with Harry Davros as president and chief executive officer.
